Kristen Barnes - Exceptional Ed.

How long have you been teaching?
I have been teaching for 11 years in Jackson Public Schools. This experience has allowed me to develop a deep understanding of the diverse needs of my students.
What is a major goal you want to accomplish this year?
This year, my major goal is to enhance the individualized support I provide to my students. I aim to implement more personalized learning strategies that cater to their unique learning styles and help the resourced population to achieve greater independence and success in the classroom.
Why do you enjoy teaching?
I enjoy teaching because it runs in my family and it's in my blood. I come from a long line of teachers. My grandmother, grandfather, mother, and more were all teachers or professors. Teaching allows me to make a positive impact on my students' lives. Witnessing their growth, celebrating their successes, and helping them overcome challenges is incredibly fulfilling to me. Teaching is very personal to me because I love fostering a love of learning, curiosity, and critical thinking skills.
What are you most excited about for this upcoming school year?
I am most excited about the opportunity to collaborate with my colleagues and integrate more hands-on activities into our curriculum.
